Got Questions?
- Make Your Move Easier For Those Helping You
Whether you hire a moving company, or round up a few friends, there are several things you can do to make your move easier on everyone involved. A little thoughtfulness will go a long way.
Make sure all driveways, sidewalks, and pathways are clear of snow, ice, debris, and anything else that may create a tripping hazard. In the house, stack boxes in corners and away from doorways.
Clearly label anything that should not be moved by anyone but you. This may include fragile/sentimental items, valuables, medications, etc.
Everything but large furniture should be packed carefully in boxes. This includes small plants, lamps, and other awkward items. Do not save these types of items for the last minute. Figure out well in advance how they should best be transported.
Disassemble. If you have furniture that needs to be taken apart, try to do that before your help arrives. It will make the move go much faster. If you have a piece of furniture that you cannot take apart, your movers may be able to help.
Unhook all cords and wires for electronics and pack all accessories in boxes. Clearly label each cord using masking tape or a twist tie so you can easily hook everything back up when you arrive at your new home.
By being prepared on moving day, you are greatly decreasing the risk of something going wrong. For a stress-free move, plan ahead, be considerate of those helping you, and pack carefully!
