Holidays in the Twin Cities: Don't Miss It!

holidays in the twin cities 1

The holiday season is in full swing and the events in our beautiful Twin Cities region offer something for everyone.  If we recently moved you and your family into the area then you should know that the Twin Cities have a lot to offer during this special time of year.  And if you have lived here for many years it’s time to update you on the best activities and events our cities have to offer.

Holiday Lights in the Park

If you enjoy taking in the holiday lights from the comfort of your car then don’t miss the giant sparkling displays at the Holiday Lights in the Park. The annual event features over 60 displays, with light tunnels, dancing snowmen, and flashing sugarplums. This fun activity for both kids and grownups doubles as a fundraiser for a good cause.  All proceeds benefit Union Gospel Mission, the Saint Paul Police Foundation, and the Saint Paul Parks Conservancy. For details visit the Saint Paul Police Foundation.

Winter skating wonderland

For those who are looking for outdoor winter fun don’t miss the transformation of Rice Park into a winter skating wonderland  The ice rink will offer daily open skating sessions throughout the season. Bring your own skates, rent them for a small fee or receive a free rental for you and your immediate family when you bring your Wells Fargo checking or credit card. For details on rates, activities and open skating hours visit Wells Fargo Interskate.

Theater and entertainment

For the theater enthusiasts the options are seemingly endless.  The Children’s Theater will present a number of programs this season including the hit show ‘The Grinch Who Stole Christmas’ packed with hijinks and fun. Stages Theater at the Hopkins Center for the Arts will present ‘Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer’ a musical celebration centered on Santa’s famous reindeer.  The troupe at New Century Theater will be performing ‘A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol’. It’s the traditional ‘A Christmas Carol’ story told the Minnesota way. And if you love oldies music be sure to check out the Plymouth Playhouse for ‘A Doo-Wop Christmas’ as the Alley Cats present a program of holiday favorites and soul classics.

This short list barely scratches the surface of fun holiday events going on in our beautiful Twin Cities Region.  For an expanded list with full details check out the CityPages and search using the Holiday category.
