#MoveChat with Good Stuff Moving and Twitter

This past Tuesday, Good Stuff Moving participated in our first #movechat on Twitter. What the #movechat is a hashtag that Twitter users use to see all posts about a specific topic, which in this case was “movechat”. A number of moving and relocation professionals use it to have an informal group discussion about a specific topic.

This week’s topic was a recent episode of Undercover Boss that focused on a moving and relocation company, and while we hadn’t had a chance to watch the episode in time for the discussion, we nonetheless had great fun following the discussion and contributing what we could.

It was a wonderful experience getting to know other moving and relocation professionals throughout America and Canada. The discussions brought up several important points we thought we’d comment on further here on the blog.

1 – Understand Customer Stress

We’ve blogged previously that there are ways for movers to alleviate stress, but all would agree that moving is one of the most stressful experiences we can go through. Empathy and understanding go a long way to helping people who are moving relax. That’s one of the reasons why it is always key to have a moving crew that is both professional and courteous, relatable, and willing to sit down before the move and allieve any fears people may have. It’s not enough to simply hire some young studs who can lift a piano with their pinky finger: they also need to be able to manage customer’s stress as well.

2 – Communication is Key

Social media is one of the new forms of communication that businesses and consumers alike are embracing. Being reachable at any point during a move can solve many problems as well as prevent new ones from occurring. Good Stuff Moving manages both a Twitter account and a Facebook account, plus the more traditional website, email, phone numbers, and inboxes, all ways for customers to get in touch with us at any time.

3 – Background Reports, Safety Checks, etc

Good Stuff Moving hires the best. We do conduct background checks, security checks, drug tests, etc. We want our moving crew to be the most professional and courteous in the Minneapolis St. Paul region. We guarantee that all of our employees are safety minded and of the highest professional quality. We have been in business in Minnesota for over 15 years, and are fully licensed and insured. Numerous families and businesses in the Twin Cities have turned to us for quality, professional relocation services.
