Summer Festivals in Greater Minnesota

Summer is already well underway in Minnesota, and many festivals and fun events such as the Stone Arch Bridge Festival and GermanFest having already passed. But not too worry, there is something exciting to do in the Twin Cities every weekend. Whether it be a festival, a food event, or a concert – there’s sure to be something to peak your interest in this summer.

Fairs & Festivals

Since there are an abundance of events happening every weekend in the Twin Cities and we couldn’t list them all, we picked out a handful that we thought were worth spreading the word on.

This past Sunday June 19th kicked off Twin Cities Pride Week. There are events going on all week and more information can be found at Twin Cities Pride Festival and Parade. Saturday June 25th is the festival in Downtown Minneapolis, and on Sunday the 26th the week-long celebration concludes with a parade also in Downtown Minneapolis.

Highland Fest is in its 33rd year and is a three-day long festival in the vibrant Highland Village in Saint Paul held from July 15-17.  There will be food and beverage vendors, games, a petting zoo, a car show and so much more! Check out their website for all the details.

The Torch Light Parade in Downtown Minneapolis on July 20 kicks off the 2016 2016 Aquatennial and the celebration comes to an end on June 23rd with the Target Fireworks.

The Minnesota State Fair, held from August 25th through Labor Day, Sept. 5, 2016, runs for twelve days straight is a must on anyone’s summer bucket list each year. The fair offers more than we can even begin to list, so I suggest checking out their website at Minnesota State Fair for all the information you need on the Great Minnesota Get-Together!

Food & Drink Events

Aside from the many festivals held throughout the summer, there are tons of food and drink specific festivals held as well. Again, we’ve picked a handful that we thought were worth noting.

The Berne Wood-Fired Pizza Summer Concert Series is open every Wednesday in June, July, August from 5pm-8pm.

The Afton Strawberry Festival is a two-day community festival that celebrates the strawberry crops that have been present for hundreds of years. The event will also feature live music and fun activities for the whole family!

The Uptown Food Truck Festival is this Sunday June 26th. There will be over 50 food trucks, so don’t miss this delicious event that will also feature 10 craft breweries as well as many family fun activities!

The 8th annual Brew @ the Zoo will be held August 5th at the Minnesota Zoo. The event will feature live music, beverages and appetizers.

Live Music

The Twin Cities Jazz Festival kicks off this Thursday June 23rd and goes through Sunday June 25th. This is a free event located in Mears Park in Downtown Saint Paul.

Basilica Block Party takes place July 8-9 at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis and there are three different stages each night. Get your tickets now before it’s too late, this is a popular summer event in the Twin Cities every year.

GO Fest, which is in its second year, is a concert sponsored by GO 96.3. This year’s GO Fest is on July 30 at First Avenue in the Mainroom. Check out their website for ticket prices and lineup details.

We are so lucky to live in an area where we have not one, but two vibrant cities that offer its residents an abundance of great events every week throughout the summer. Whether you’re a life-long Minnesotan or have recently moved to the area, we hope you go out and enjoy all that the Twin Cities has to offer.
