Three tips for easier unpacking: Tip #2
Last week we shared the first tip of our three part series on unpacking- Pare down. If you didn’t have a chance to read that blog post, check it out here! Today we are back with another tip, and we will finish off next week with tip 3!
Tip #2:
Give Everything a Place.
Do you have a junk drawer? Possibly a junk closet? Or maybe you have a garage full of ‘stuff’? Now is the perfect time to give everything it’s own place. Cleaning supplies can be put in a plastic bin in the laundry room or a closet. Paper clips and pens can be put in re-purposed jars and given a drawer in the office or a shelf in a closet. If you have a pile of batteries, figure out which ones work and recycle the rest. The idea is that if everything has a place, you will be more inclined to put it back where it belongs!
- Designate a place for spare keys and other items you don’t need daily
- Keep all similar items together (batteries, chargers, lightbulbs)
- If you are forgetful, keep a list of where important things can be found
If you pare down, and give what is left a place in your home, you are well on your way to organized living!
Check back next week for Tip #3!
